Singer Perrie Edwards has addressed her split from Zayn Malik on her band Little Mix's forthcoming fourth studio album.
The 23-year-old singer and the former One Direction star broke up last summer and the blonde beauty and her bandmates, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall, have recorded songs about their individual heartbreak for their forthcoming LP, reported Female First.
"I think it's always easier to write about your experiences through music because more people can relate to them anyway," Nelson said.
"It is a lot more mature, this album. There's a lot of things that have been said that perhaps nobody has heard yet, if you know what I mean."
Quizzed on whether Little Mix fans - who are known as Mixers - will know who is being sung about on each song, Nelson replied, "I think it's pretty obvious. I think all the songs are very relatable to girls, and our fan base in general."
But it won't be an album of doom and gloom, as they group insisted their upcoming fourth studio record is "very positive".
"I love what the first song is about. I love that the first song is like a happy heartbreak song. It's not about being down, it's all about being like, 'Yeah!'," Nelson said.
"We're going through different things. Some of us have gone through heartbreak while others of us have found love. I think it's a very positive album," Thirlwal said.
