Iconic Disney cartoon character Minnie Mouse has finally received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and as singer Katy Perry put it the moment came "a brief 40 years after Mickey got his star".
The 33-year-old musician, who attended the ceremony along with Disney chief Bob Iger, threw a slight shade at the industry after the toon was awarded her very first star on the Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles Times reported.
"Seeing Minnie is like returning home, it is a special skill to bring joy to so many and she does it with an effortless bat of the lash.
"So today - a brief 40 years after Mickey got his star - I am delighted to honour Minnie and her magic with hers," Perry, who was dressed in a red and polka-dot dress as Minnie, said.
The cartoon character received the star on her 90th anniversary at the 6834 Hollywood Boulevard in front of Disney's El Capitan Theatre, dedicated in the category of Motion Pictures.
She made her movie debut in the 1928 film "Steamboat Willie" and has since starred in more than 70 films.
Her male co-star and boyfriend Mickey Mouse got his star way back in 1978.
"Thank you oh so much for this wonderful honour. I am so grateful.
"And I want to thank all my friends from around the world. And Mickey, I am so happy you're here to share this magical day with me. This really is the best day ever," Minnie said to the fans gathered at the event.
