Delhi Police today organised a two-wheeler peace rally in parts of north Delhi in a bid to instill a sense of reassurance and belief among residents, especially children, many of whom were scared to come to school after the horrific terrorist attack in a Peshawar.
School authorities in the area had conveyed to police about sudden drop in attendance in some of the classes as young kids were scared after the Peshawar attack.
Police officials then roped in some youths of the area under its 'Yuva' programme and organised a two-wheeler (bikes and bicycles) rally under the jurisdiction of Kotwali police station area in which children, policemen and youths of the area participated.
The district police is now aiming to organise similar rallies in other areas as well.
"The rally was aimed to reassure the residents, especially children, that police is there for them and that all possible measures are being taken for their security and there is no need for panic," said DCP (North) Madhur Verma.
Delhi Police is on a high alert and security has been beefed up at prominent five star hotels, schools, colleges and malls in the national capital in the wake of a brutal terror attack in an Army-run school at Peshawar in Pakistan in which more than 140 people, mostly children were killed and the advisory issued by the Home Ministry.
