A petition was filed in Allahabad High Court today seeking action against BJP leader Amit Shah for his statement in which he had described Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh as a "haven for terrorists".
The petition, which is likely to come up for hearing on Monday, was filed by one Javed Mohd, who is convenor of Alpasankhyak Utpeedan Virodhi Qanooni Adhikar Manch, an organisation devoted to seeking legal remedy against atrocities on minorities.
The petitioner has sought the court's direction to Election Commission for taking stringent action against Shah, national general secretary of the BJP and close aide of its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, on the charge of promoting enmity between different communities for electoral gains.
