Michael Ewing, owner of Giggles the pig, announced on a Facebook page that the pig was running for mayor of Flint, Michigan.
The page explains why Giggles is an ideal mayoral candidate.
According to the Facebook page, Giggles has "no criminal history," "has never been financially irresponsible," "will take no money from special interests," "supports police" and "has never missed an important deadline".
Ewing said that he was unhappy with the choices that Flint voters have so Giggles was entering the race as a write-in candidate, 'FOX 66 News' reported.
This means that all candidates - including Flint's incumbent Mayor Dayne Walling - may have to run as write-ins.
A write-in candidate is one whose name does not appear on the ballot, but for whom voters may vote nonetheless by writing the person's name.
