Medical Council of India (MCI) was likely to inspect the college in the second week of next month and if the vacancies were not filled up, the threat of derecognising the M.Ch in Endocrine surgery lurked, Dr M Chandrasekharan submitted in his petition.
The country had only seven M.Ch. Seats in endocrine surgery, a super speciality course and the the Madras Medical College had two seats. After his retirement as professor and another faculty member's retirement as associate professor, the Director of Medical Education and the Medical Secretary had not taken steps to fill the vacancies, he said.
