Rajasthan Pradesh Congress committee president Sachin Pilot today asked the youth to join mainstream politics of the country and play a serious role in the democratic processes.

Speaking at the national convention of NSUI Inquilab here, Pilot said the Congress won all bypolls held in the state during the last four years and NSUI workers played an important role in that. He asked NSUI members to stand against the situation of hatred in the society and fight against "divisive powers".

He said the creation of the NSUI was a historic step, providing an opportunity to students to get involved in the political movement of the country and contribute actively in the democratic processes.

AICC general secretary Avinash Pande mentioned how the student movement contributed toward the development of the country.

Former Uttarakhand chief minister Harish Rawat shared his experience of entering into politics.

Leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad launched the NSUI blood donor directory, which has the database of 2 lakh donors.

An organisational resolution to initiate discussion amongst the students was also passed in the convention consisting of issues like participation of girls in student politics and NSUI's stand on sexual harassment among others.

Other senior leaders of the Congress and the NSUI were present in the convention.
