He said Progeny Testing Programme was being implemented in crossbred jersey cows at a total outlay of Rs.39.28 crore. The scheme is implemented from 2012-13 in five district unions including Vellore, Villupuram, and Erode.
"It is envisaged to produce 247 High Genetic Merit bulls under the scheme by 2017-18," he said adding under the Natioanl Dairy Plan, semen station at Nucleus Jersey and Stud Farm, Udhagamandalam, is being strengthened with a grant of Rs.143.47 crore.
