Appreciating the government of Maharashtra's efforts to plant trees, US Consul General in India Edgard D Kagan today said the drive will significantly help in reducing carbon footprint.
In a meeting between Kagan and state Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar, the latter told the US official about innovations undertaken by his ministry as part of the tree plantation drive.
A state government release stated that Kagan appreciated these innovations and expressed a desire to participate in some of them.
Mungantiwar also spoke about the Goods and Services Act and its implementation in Maharashtra as well as other economic issues of the state.
Kagan called India and the United States natural friends and said cooperation between the two nations could create a great example of development in the world.
