A team of Rajgangpur police raided the camp deep inside the Dumejharan forest area after being informed and opened fire when challenged, with the PLFI members numbering 10 to 14 escaping, Sundergarh Superintendent of Police Sanjeeb Arora said.
"The encounter did not last long, and the criminals managed to escape," Arora said.
Police recovered seven crude rifles, a country-made pistol, 74 rounds, a tarpaulin, medicines, mobiles, notebooks and other materials.
"We have recovered arms and ammunition from the spot and have also found some valuable documents, which will give us some good leads," he said.
