Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a farewell dinner on July 26 for the outgoing Army Chief Gen Bikram Singh who is retiring at the end of the month.
Defence Minister Arun Jaitley will also hold a farewell dinner for the outgoing Army chief on Friday which will be attended by senior officials from all departments of the Ministry, Ministry officials said.
In his last days in office, Gen Singh is visiting all the operational commands of the force and was in Chandimandir-based Western Command since yesterday.
In one of his visits as Army Chief, the Army chief is expected to visit Drass in Ladakh on July 25 to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the Kargil War.
The celebrations of the Kargil Vijay Diwas on July 26 had been a low-key affair for the last several years under the UPA government but are expected to be big this year.
Till last year, the celebrations in Drass were headed by officers of the rank of Army Commander.
