PM 'distressed' over deaths due to quake in Japan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today expressed distress over the loss of lives and damage caused in Japan by an earthquake and said his thoughts were with the bereaved families.
"Distressed on the loss of lives & damage caused by the quake in Japan. My thoughts are with bereaved families & prayers with the injured," he tweeted.
Japan was hit by two powerful earthquakes, killing at least 29 people, trapping many beneath flattened homes and rendering thousands homeless.
The exact number of casualties remained unclear as rescue efforts continued to unfold today.
