Hundreds of Congress activists today burnt an effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and shouted anti-Modi slogans at Krishna Nagar crossing here.
"The life of a common man has been thrown out of gear as demonetisation was done without adequate preparation," said Sohan Singh Sisodia, district president of CongressCommittee- Mathura.
He said the way people are hankering for their own money is a proofthat decision of demonetisation was taken in haste.
"The worst part of it is that banks are running short of notes with the result that people, after standing in queue for hours are neither getting the money from bank nor from ATMs," he said, adding that commercial activity has virtually stopped as poor people are the worst sufferers.
Sidodia demanded immediate solution of the problemfailing which people would be forced to come on the streets.
