In what is being billed as a first -of-its-kind move, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will give a pep talk to students across the country on Teachers' Day next week.
The talk will be followed by an interactive session, said officials in the HRD Ministry.
The programme will be broadcast live on Doordarshan while a podcast of the same will be facilitated by the National Informatics Centre.
The contours of the event was discussed at a recently-held meeting of state education secretaries and they have been asked to make arrangements for the smooth conduct of the programme in their respective states, officials added.
The programme, followed by the interactive session, would go on air at 3 P.M. On September 5 and continue till 4.45 P.M. The prime minister is slated to deliver his address from the Manekshaw Auditorium here.
Also, on the eve of Teacher's Day, Modi will meet national -award winning teachers over breakfast on Sept. 4. They would be felicitated by the President the next day.
Modi is expected to emphasise on education for girls and also stress on value-based education against the backdrop of rising crimes against women.
During his Independence Day speech, Modi had said that rising cases of rape makes our "heads hang in shame". He asked parents to take responsibility for the actions of their sons and place on them the same restrictions as is put on their daughters.
He could also reiterate the government's commitment to providing toilets for girls in every school by next year.
During his speech from the ramparts of the Red Fort, Modi had urged parliamentarians and the corporate sector to help build separate toilets for girls in schools across the country by next year.
