Union Minister Ramvilas Paswan today said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP have never "backed" the 'ghar vapasi' campaign by some Hindu outfits.

"Neither the Prime Minister nor the BJP has said anything to back 'ghar vapasi' campaign by the Hindu fringe outfits," the Union Minister said, adding that as far as he was concerned there was nothing wrong in changing one's faith by choice.

"There must not be conversion by force or allurement, but at the same time there is nothing wrong if one decides to convert to another faith," he said.

Paswan said that B R Ambedkar's adoption of the Buddhist religion by choice in 1950s did not make news or was debated.
