PM to inaugurate 'Speaker's Research Initiative' tomorrow

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will tomorrow inaugurate an initiative here to help the lawmakers get expert advise from domain experts to develop a better perspective on issues and subjects under consideration of the Parliament.
The programme has been christened as the 'Speaker's Research Initiative' and it will be an interactive platform where the MPs will interact with the experts.
A core group has been formed to provide balanced inputs and information in the form of backgrounders that are prepared for the members.
Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan feels that this would be an interactive process where the Members will also give their feedback and their valuable suggestions, said a government statement.

"Keeping in view the requirements of the Members, it has been felt that high-quality research inputs on important matters of diverse nature should be provided to Members for proper understanding of the issues under consideration.
"It is in this context that Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan has conceptualised the above-mentioned Research Initiative," it said.
To start with, a workshop on Sustainable Development Goals will be organised after the inauguration.
