Senior SAD-BJP leaders from Patiala, Fathegarh Sahib, Mohali and Ropar districts attended the meeting to monitor arrangements for the function, an official spokesman said.
The cancer hospital would be developed and established by the Bhaba Atomic Research Centre on the lines of the Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, at a cost of Rs 450 crore, he said.
Badal told the meeting that after formal clearance of the project by the department of Atomic Energy, headed by the Prime Minister, he made a personal request to Manmohan Singh to lay the foundation stone.
The Chief Minister said he was personally indebted to the Prime Minister for clearing the project expeditiously.
Badal said the institute would provide the best health care and diagnostic facilities to patients afflicted with cancer.
