"Police and security agencies have been asked to be alert and vigilant," a senior police officer said here today.
"The Jammu-Srinagar highway will not be closed during PM's visit. However, all precautionery measures, including beefing up of security, would be taken," he said.
BSF has put its personnel on alert along the International Border (IB) to prevent any attempt by terrorists from across the border to sneak in and carry out an attack.
The vigilance and monitoring have been increased in the border areas along the IB, a BSF officer said.
There have been some incidents in the past when terrorists infiltrated through the IB and carried out attacks in Jammu region.
Meanwhile, the arrangements for the Prime Minister's visit were reviewed in a high level meeting attended by Minister of State for Public Works (R&B) and Revenue, Sunil Kumar Sharma, at Chanderkot belt of Ramban district.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Chanderkot in Jammu region on November 7, 2015 to inaugurate the Baglihar Hydro Electric Power Project Phase-II and four laning project of Udhampur-Banihal on Jammu-Srinagar National highway.
Ramban Deputy Commissioner Bashir Ahmed Dar briefed the meeting about the various arrangements being put in place by the district administration for the visit.
The arrangements discussed included security, parking of public and government vehicles, traffic arrangement on the highway, drinking water, sitting of VIPs, media persons and public, sanitation besides other related issues were also discussed in the meeting.
