Wildlife officers arrested an alleged poacher near the famous Chilika Lake in Odisha and seized carcasses of ruddy shelducks from his possession.
"Kabiraj Pradhan (55) was nabbed by an anti-poaching squad from Ujjala Bhagabanapur under Tangi wildlife range," DFO (Chilika) Bikash Ranjan Das said.
The poacher might have killed the birds after trapping them in the lake, he said.
Twenty poachers were arrested and over 100 migratory birds killed in Chilika area during the last five months, he added.
