With the arrest of three persons, police today claimed to have busted two gangs of auto-lifters active in different parts of Delhi.
The arrested have been identified as Lokesh Kumar (27), a resident of Delhi, Anil Kumar (26) and Salman, residents of Uttar Pradesh, police said, adding that eleven stolen cars have been recovered from their possession.
"Police on March 22 received a tip-off stating that Lokesh, who was involved in several cases of auto-theft, would go to Gurgaon for sale of a stolen Esteem by using fake number plate. Acting on tip-off, police laid a trap and arrested him from Safadarjung area," a senior police officer said.
On March 23, police got information that two members of another auto gang were coming towards Press Enclave area of Malviya Nagar, following which they laid a trap and arrested Anil and Salman.
"Police have recovered a total of 11 stolen cars. The accused used to steal vehicles in Delhi-NCR and sell them by removing their registration plates," the officer said.
