On August 31, the gang had robbed some students of a private university by holding them at gunpoint, the police said.
The three arrested gang members were identified as Komal Gill, the kingpin, Amit Sharma and Krishan Narayan, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kapurthala, Sandip Kumar Sharma said.
A countrymade pistol, one live cartridge, Rs 1,700 in cash and a motorcycle, allegedly used in the crime, were seized from their possession, he said, adding that it was being probed if the two-wheeler was stolen or not.
Sharma and Gill were also wanted in cases of assaults and clashes, he added.
Sharma had lived in Greece for some time. He returned to the country in 2013 and was since involved in criminal activities, the SSP said.
Phagwara Superintendent of Police (SP) Parminder Singh said the three were arrested from a place near the Chaheru village.
The three had allegedly robbed the students of the private university of a mobile phone, Rs 8,500 and valuable documents on August 31, he added.
