Addressing a press conference here today, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Parag Manere told reporters that one of the arrested included the victim's close relative.
Allegedly, the trio entered the house on March 18 and tied up Niharika Mohan Salunke (23) who was alone, stole jewellery as well as an LCD TV, after which they slit her throat with a knife.
Her mother who returned from school found the girl lying dead in the house and alerted the police.
The Ulhasnagar Crime Branch nabbed the trio and seized stolen goods worth Rs 1.50 lakh, Manere said.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime Nagesh Lohar said that one of those arrested was Jyoti Avinash Salunke (29) who was the victim's cousin.
Allegedly, after Jyoti, who has two kids faced financial hardships, she resorted to robbery in Niharika's house for which she took the help of two others residing in the same building.
They have been identified as Vinaykumar alias Babu Rajkumar Mehra (25) and Muskan alias Naseem Abdul Shaikh (30).
