Police complaint against JU VC, OC

A section of Jadavpur University students today lodged a police complaint against varsity Vice Chancellor Abhijit Chakrabarty and Jadavpur Police Station OC Vijay Kumar Singh, accusing them of molesting girl students while forcibly lifting the gherao in the early hours.
"The students, especially girl students, have lodged the police complaint. We are looking into the complaint," DC (SSD) Santosh Pandey said.
Thirty-five students of the university, arrested after the police forcibly broke the siege of the vice-chancellor and registrar, were released. Later, the agitating students lifted their blockade of the Jadavpur police station.
All the 35 students were released on personal bond, police sources here said.

The students who put up blockade in front of Jadavpur police station lifted it on the condition that an independent probe would be done on the alleged sexual harassment of a girl student inside boys' hostel on August 28, the police said.
