"The person who tried self immolation has been arrested," a police officer said.
Satyavir Singh wanted immediate action against some persons who according to him had destroyed some part of his crop, police said.
Some police personnel tried to convince him that the matter will be settled on 'Samadhan Diwas' in presence of officers of different department.
However, Singh was not convinced and in a fit of rage he poured kerosene over himself.
Policemen present on the spot overpowered him before he could set himself on fire.
