: The idol wing of the Tamil Nadu police Friday inspected 41 idols at Sri Braghadeeswar temple here, also known as the 'Big temple', on complaints that they had been replaced with fake ones, officials said.
As part of the probe, the police personnel studied the specifications of the idols as mentioned in documents and compared them with the present ones, they said.
The officials and workers at the temple were also questioned.
Officials of the archaeological department assisted the policemen in the probe.
Meanwhile, a complaint was received stating that 19 idols at Punnai Nallur Mariamman temple have also been replaced.
