Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today said that providing better law and order and effective check on crime are the top priorities of his government.
"Providing better law and order and effective check on crime are the top priorities of the state government. Policemen have to see that there is no injustice with common people and they should work continuously for redressing their problems," Yadav said.
"This will also increase people's faith in them," he said while addressing a meeting of senior police officials on the occasion of 'Police Week.'
"As Uttar Pradesh is the biggest state population wise, the challenges before it are also different. In the changing scenario, challenges before the police have increased and the government is aware that police has to work under difficult situations," Yadav said.
The chief minister said that exchange of views during such functions as Police Week have positive results and everybody comes to know about the good works being done by their counterparts in other areas.
Regretting that vested interests sometimes try to present facts in a distorted manner to spoil the image of the state, Yadav asked police officers to remain vigilant and ensure that they do not succeed in their designs.
He also asked police officers to make special efforts to see that their good work is reaching the common people.
