"There should not be any involvement of the police officers in hobnobbing with land grabbers. Any complaint in this regard will be dealt with very strictly," Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Ranger, Danish Rana said here.
These directions were issued at a high-level meeting in view of the criticism that police officers are working hand in glove with the land mafia.
He further said that bovine smugglers need to be dealt with strictly under law.
During the meeting, the stress was laid by the officer to all subordinate formations to come to the expectations of the general public.
He exhorted upon the police officers to be "very effective" in response to the complaints of the public.
"The complainants should get a patient hearing in the police stations," he said while emphasising on the need to activate the visitor's room in their respective police stations.
The officer also laid stress on cleanliness and maintenance of the police station premises as a mission towards 'Swachh Police Abiyaan' and to effectively maintain the records of the stations, to ensure effective beat policing and for timely disposal of processes.
It was also impressed upon all the officers to chalk out strategies to prevent burglaries and chain snatching in their respective areas.
In the concluding remarks, IGP Jammu conveyed to the officers that their day-to-day performance will be observed minutely, for which they need to implement the instructions imparted in letter and spirit.
