Police resort to lathicharge as gatecrashers disrupt Mann show

Unruly and chaotic scenes were witnessed today over a performance by popular singer Gurdas Mann at the Anaj Mandi here with an irate crowd resorting to vandalism after the show was cancelled midway.
The show was organised by a private organisation here with sources saying that the entry for the event was only for those who had bought passes.
However, a large crowd of gatecrashers descended upon the venue just as the show had begun, prompting Mann to leave the stage midway after singing only four songs.
The artiste's departure infuriated the crowd which then went berserk, damaging the furniture at the venue.

Sources said that police had to resort to a mild lathicharge to control the mob, leading to minor injuries to two persons. The injured have been admitted to the civil hospital, sources added.
