Brown sugar worth over Rs one crore in the international market was seized from a house in Dibrugarh town of Assam on Sunday, a police officer said.
Brown sugar weighing 1.14 kg, Rs 19.55 lakh in cash and two mobile phones were seized during a search operation, carried out by the police, in the house of one Raja Ali at Kalibari area here, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Law & order) Nitumani Das said.
Ali escaped by jumping from the first floor of the building and a woman has been apprehended, the DSP said.
A search operation has been launched to nab Ali, the police officer said.
The operation was conducted under his leadership, along with DSP(HQ) Samir Daptar Baruah and Officer in Charge of Dibrugarh police station, Das said.
