The AAP today alleged that the Delhi Police was using farmer Gajendra Singh's suicide incident as a tool to target its leaders and malign the party's image.
The party also questioned the move behind interrogating leaders 10 months after the FIR was registered.
"The Delhi Police has been summoning AAP leader Sanjay Singh, Ashish Khetan, Sanjay Singh and myself. They are interrogating us just like one interrogates terrorists," AAP leader Kumar Vishwas said.
AAP leader Sanjay Singh alleged the case was deliberately opened up ten months after the incident took place.
"Why is the police interrogating us after ten months of filing an FIR. We suspect that the police will use Gajendra Singh incident to frame AAP leaders and malign the party.
"Immediately after the incident, the PM tweeted about this incident. Home Minister gave a statement on this in the Parliament. Since we have been called ten months after the incident, it reflects the government's non-seriousness in investigating the case," Singh said.
Hrishikesh Kumar, lawyer representing AAP leaders said, party leaders will continue to cooperate with the police, but "will oppose the police being used as a political tool tooth and nail."
Singh and AAP volunteer Neeraj Pandey were interrogated at Delhi Police's Crime Branch office in RK Puram yesterday, where they were questioned in connection with the death of farmer Gajendra Singh during a party rally at Jantar Mantar here last year.
Three other senior party leaders -- Ashish Khetan, Kumar Vishwas and Punjab MP Bhagwant Mann -- were also been summoned by the police for questioning in this case.
