Thane ACB Additional Superintendent Shrinivas Ghadge told PTI that police naik Mukund Khirade (33) had allegedly demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 7,000 from a complainant.
He said that the police had registered an offence against the complainant who approached the police constable to arrange a bail for him from the court.
The policeman allegedly made a demand of Rs 7,000 to favour him, which made the complainant register a complaint with the ACB's Thane unit.
He also said that offences under Section 7, Section 13(1)(d) and Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988, were registered at the local police station.
