Darjeeling superintendent of police Amit Javalgi said besides intensifying patrolling, 20 cctv cameras have been installed in important locations.
An interactive session was also held with hoteliers to stress the need for maintaining its tourist-friendly reputation, he said.
A control room will work 24 hours for monitoring the situation, he said.
The SP said although maintenance of roads came under the purview of the municipality, he would pursue the matter with the concerned authorities.
