WRD has already taken concrete measures to execute pending irrigation projects, including Durgawati reservoir project and a road map has been prepared to complete it in two years.
Besides, steps have been taken to improve the capacity of various irrigation projects, including those whose capacity had depreciated.
The WRD minister said a yearly target for irrigation capacity expansion will be undertaken in the 12th plan and in the ongoing fiscal year an irrigation capacity for 60,000 hectares would be added.
In addition, the restoration of irrigation capacities of various projects will be executed with the aim to irrigate 4.37 lakh hectare farm land, he said.
