Police have seized 28 kgs of poppy straw, a narcotic substance, from a truck on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, officials said today.
The Jammu-bound truck was intercepted by police on a tip off at Ujroo near Qazigund, 80 kms from here, yesterday and its search led to the recovery of the drug, they said.
However, the driver of the truck, Bashir Ahmad Sofi, fled on seeing the police party and a manhunt has been launched to nab him, they said.
