Power discom Tata Power Delhi Distribution (TPDDL) has made arrangements for meeting a peak demand of approximately 1300 MW this winter season.
"In all 1500 MW of power is available from long term sources to TPDDL which would help in meeting the winter peak effectively. For contingency requirements, if any, power will be purchased from the short term exchange based on the requirements. However, no shortfall is expected in the coming winter months of December 15 to February 16," an official statement said.
Further, arrangements have been made for winter night power surplus by exporting the same to the states of Jammu and Kashmir, Chattisgarh and Gridco.
"The same would be received back by TPDDL in the summer months of 2016 making it self-sufficient for the next summer as well. We have entered into the power banking arrangements with different states including Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Meghalaya and Orissa among others.
"Under the arrangement, TPDDL exports power to these states during the off peak winter months and the same is imported back by it during the summer months of May to September," said Praveer Sinha, CEO and MD, TPDDL.
