The 20-kg land mine planted underneath Shyamsunderpur -Gurabandha road, about 60 km from here, was defused by the Bomb Disposal Squad which arrived from Ranchi today morning, Superintendent of Police (Rural), Shailendra Kumar Sinha said.
The land mine was targeted at security personnel and intended to cause a major damage, he said.
Acting on a tip-off, police personnel rushed to the spot yesterday and identified the exact location of the land mine after spotting some exposed wire on the ground.
They informed the Bomb Disposal Squad in Ranchi which defused the land mine.
