"Power loom sector is facing lot of problems and so we need some relief. On this, a team of PDEXCIL office bearers will represent the PM soon," the newly-elected Chairman of Powerloom Development and Export Promotion Council (PDEXCIL), M Duraisamy, told reporters here today.
"We are not against the handloom sector, but some changes are needed in the Reservation Act," he said.
Already 22 cloth items had been reserved for handloom and on the representation of the powerloom industry, the then Union Government had relaxed 11 items.
Duraisamy wanted re-introduction of duty drawback so that more units will involve in export of the textiles to other countries.
