Pre-monsoon showers lashed Delhi today minutes after the mega International Yoga Day event ended at Rajpath, bringing down mercury significantly even as high humidity caused discomfort to people in the city.
Between 8.30 am and 11.30 am, 6.8 mm rainfall was recorded at the Safdarjung observatory, considered the official for the city.
Rainfall measuring 2.6 mm was recorded at Palam, 71 mm at Ridge, 0.7 mm at Aya Nagar and 17.8 mm at Lodhi Road, said MeT department officials.
The showers were preceded by gusts which brought down several temporary structures at Rajpath put up for the event and scattered the carpets laid over the premier avenue.
There were reports of waterlogging from several parts of the city which also made the traffic crawl at places.
The maximum temperature was recorded four notches below the season's average at 34.4 degrees Celsius while minimum temperature had settled at 28.5 degrees Celsius.
The humidity on the higher side hovered at 92 per cent while on the lower side it was recorded at 59 per cent.
MeT office has predicted overcast conditions along with the possibility of thunderstorm accompanied by rains in some parts of the city for tomorrow.
"The sky will be generally cloudy. Thunderstorm with rains would occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover at 36 and 25 degrees Celsius respectively," said the MeT forecast.
Similar weather conditions would prevail till June 25, the weatherman said.
