"The body of the victim, identified as Suman, missing for about seven days, was fished out from Upper Bari Doab Canal(UBDC) yesterday. Subsequently, her husband Ashok Kumar and brother in-law Vijay Kumar have been booked for dowry death," SSP Rakesh Kaushal said.
According to the police, the victim's mother Darshna Devi had lodged a complaint saying that she was married to Ashok, a resident of Kathua in Jammu and Kashmir, five years ago.
Darshna alleged that Suman's in-laws had continuously been demanding dowry from her daughter and also said that the victim was pregnant by seven months, police said.
