In his message to Himachal Pradesh Governor Acahrya Dev Vrat, the President asked the state government and other agencies to provide all possible aid to the bereaved families and medical assistance to those injured in the accident.
"I understand number of persons have lost their lives and others are injured. Rescue as well as relief and search operations are currently underway," he said.
Mukherjee conveyed his condolences to the families of the deceased and wished speedy recovery to the injured persons.
At least 43 passengers were killed yesterday when a private bus plunged into the Tons river in the remote Nerwa area of Shimla district.
