The adorable nickname coined by 2-year-old George for the Queen has been revealed by his mother Kate Middleton in an ITV documentary 'Our Queen at 90' to celebrate the monarch's milestone birthday on April 21.
In her first solo interview since marrying Prince William in 2011, Kate opens up on life as a royal and says the Queen is a doting great-grandmother to Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
"She (the Queen) always leaves a little gift or something in their room when we go and stay," Kate says.
"It's very special having a new little girl...I feel very, very lucky that George has got a little sister. The Queen was really thrilled that it was a little girl, and I think as soon as we came back here to Kensington she was one of our first visitors here," the 34-year-old royal was quoted as saying by The Mirror.
"George is only two-and-a-half and he calls her 'Gan-Gan'," Kate says.
Kate also says she was "apprehensive" about accompanying the Queen without William on a Diamond Jubilee visit to Leicester and admitted she gets teased by other royals about how long she spends chatting on walkabouts.
"But I feel she's been there, a gentle guidance really for me," she says.
"The most memorable engagement for me was an away-day to Leicester. I went without William, so I was rather apprehensive about that. I think there is a real art to walkabouts. Everyone teases me in the family that I spend far too long chatting," Kate says in the documentary.
Her interview for the ITV documentary was recorded several weeks earlier and also features contributions from several other members of the royal family including Prince Charles, Camilla, William, Harry, Prince Andrew, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, Sophie Wessex and Peter Phillips.
