The ornately designed case with leather interior pockets was a gift to Diana from her grandmother.
It fetched the highest price out of 79 items connected to the British royal at an auction that ended yesterday, conducted by Boston-based RR Auction.
The case was among belongings Diana donated to charity months before her death on August 31, 1997 in a Paris car crash.
A 17-inch (43-centimeter) silver necklace with a capital "D'' charm that Diana is thought to have worn as a teen sold for almost USD 9,000, while a black metal mesh handbag sold for more than USD 7,400.
