On suspicion that the two students of Class VII and Class V have stolen the teacher's cellphone, the accused on Monday badly beat up the duo and locked them up inside a hostel room, District Child Protection Officer (Koraput) Rajshree Das said.
"On receiving information, I along with police went to the premises same night but the school authorities asked us to leave immediately. However, after intervention of district SP, we managed to rescue the students," Das said.
The students were taken to Sunabeda hospital and were yesterday produced before the child welfare committee here, she added.
Based on the complaint of father of one of the victims, the two accused were arrested yesterday, police said.
