Prisoner commits suicide in Nashik jail

A 27-year-old prisoner allegedly committed suicide at the Nashik Road Central jail here in the wee hours of today, police said.
Pralhad Rokade hanged himself from a toilet window using a rope made out of a bed-sheet in barrack No 2 of the jail in North Maharashtra, Nashik Road Police Station Inspector Narayan Nyahalde said.
His body has been sent for post-mortem to Nashik Civil Hospital, he said.
On December 29 last year, Rokade was convicted in a rape case and was undergoing sentence here.
