Prisoner dies at Mandsaur district hospital

An under-trial prisoner, who was undergoing treatment for HIV infection, died at Mandsaur district hospital in Madhya Pradesh Thursday, a jail official said.

Ramkumar (42) was arrested under the Narcotics, Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in February 2017, assistant jail superintendent Subhadra Thakur said.

He was accused of possessing banned poppy husk.

He was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday and died Thursday, the official said, adding that further inquiry into the death was on.
