Prisoners concert at historic Gaiety Theatre

The historic Gaiety Theatre today for the first time witnessed a live concert and cultural show by the inmates of Nahan Jail in the presence of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.
The unique initiative of Directorate of Prisons and Correctional Services provided a platform to 10 jail inmates to showcase their music skills.
Of them, five are serving life sentences under section 302, IPC, two are facing trials under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the others are facing trials under sections 376 and 354, IPC.
They sang Himachali folk songs, qawali, Sufi as well as old Hindi film numbers.
