After launching her music career in the US, Bollywood actress priyanka Chopra has now sealed a one-year TV development deal with ABC Television Studios.
The 32-year-old former Miss World, who will be a part of an ABC series developed for her or star in an existing project targeted for next fall, said she is very excited about venturing into American television.
"I am honoured and excited to have inked this deal with ABC. The fact that the network will be developing customised TV content, specifically with me in mind, is amazing. I have been a long-time fan of ABC shows, and an admirer of how the network has changed the landscape of TV through the diversity of their lead characters," Priyanka said in a statement.
"To follow in the footsteps of game-changers like Sofia Vergara, Kerry Washington and Eva Longoria is a matter of pride for me. I am looking forward to this endeavour," the 'Mary Kom' star added.
The ABC deal comes after Priyanka had a voice role in the animated feature 'Planes'.
The actress's first single, 'In My City', was also selected as the theme song to the 2013 season of the NFL Network's Thursday Night Football and her cover of Bonnie Raitt's 'I Can't Make You Love Me' was featured in a nationwide campaign for Beats By Dre.
She also became the first woman of Indian descent to be named a Guess Girl.
