National Conference today said the probable PDP-BJP alliance in the state was just a power sharing arrangement that lacked ideological convergence or commitment towards the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
"The joining together of the duo (PDP-BJP) is to get glued to power whatever the conditions," NC General Secretary Ali Mohammed Sagar said while addressing a meeting of the district functionaries of Kathua and Samba at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan.
He said any arrangement based on convenience rather than commitment remains fraught with vested interest and expressed apprehensions that this may lead to political uncertainty in the near future.
The sensitive state like Jammu and Kashmir, which is faced with numerous challenges, may not afford half-hearted approach, given its peculiar needs and requirements.
He said the future of Jammu and Kashmir lies in strengthened regional and religious ties, and NC will continue to work towards this objective even if it entails offering sacrifices.
"History stands testimony to the fact how the party workers maintained the pluralistic ethos during most testing times," he said.
Referring to the recent Assembly elections, Sagar said the National Conference gave a befitting fight and maintained its vote share.
"In certain constituencies, the party candidates lost with a thin margin," he said.
