"Sub-Inspector A A Jadeja, posted at Anandnagar police station, was arrested last night," said Crime Branch Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mayur Chavda.
He said Jadeja was booked under sections 120 (B) (criminal conspiracy), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 384 (extortion) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 3, 11 and 12 (1) of the Anti-Corruption Act, for allegedly extorting the money from Sunil Nagrani, who runs a BPO centre in Nehru Nagara area.
Nagrani has also named four constables in his FIR, Chavda said.
According to the complainant, the two probationary PSIs and four police constables barged into his office at 11:00 PM on April 9 and demanded Rs 50 lakh from him saying he was conducting illegal activities at the BPO.
When he protested, they forcibly took away Rs 14 lakh from a drawer in his office, according to the FIR.
Meanwhile, Jadeja was produced in a local court which remanded him in police custody for two days.
