An inquiry was ordered on Friday into a video showing a peon, who appeared drunk, beating up students in a government school in Katni in Madhya Pradesh, an official said.
The man in the video, which has gone viral on social media platforms, has been identified as Jaiprakash Mishra, a peon in Badwara tehsil's Government Balak (boys) Middle School, the official added.
"I came across the video at around 3.30 pm on Friday. I have formed a three-member panel to probe the incident. I have asked the panel to submit a report by evening," Block Resource Coordinator (BRC) K L Patel told PTI over phone.
Two others, identified as block education office peon Sanjay Markoo and guest teacher Santlal Dumar, are also seen in the video.
Mishra is seen sitting on a desk in a maroon shirt and jeans, with a saffron cloth wrapped around his head, in the video.
